Perhaps due to the open nature of the game design and multiplayer modes, a small but strong NFSHP2 community still exists. The tools below have sprung from the community over time, adding functionality to the game.

A Sac (Catalan for 'fast as hell') is a HP2 hotlapper's best friend. The tool monitors the running HP2 game and extracts detailed lap times and other statistics as each race is run. Lap records are maintained for each car, track and track direction combination that the player races.
Furthermore, A Sac can connect to an online server and upload lap record data to it. Until recently, the main A Sac server was hosted by needforbetterspeed.com, however that site was voluntarily closed after many successful years in operation. Subsequently, Friendly PC Gamers has begun hosting an A Sac server, ensuring the continued longevity of the game.
